Strength for the years ahead.

Built Strong After 60 exists to show that getting older does not mean giving up strength, confidence or independence. You do not need a perfect gym, unlimited time or an athletic background—you need somewhere to begin and the persistence to keep moving forward.

Through my experience, practical workouts and honest articles, I hope to help people in their 50s, those approaching 60 and those already beyond it build strength for everyday life—at their own pace and in whatever space they have. This isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about staying capable enough to enjoy the years ahead.

An ordinary decision.
A lasting commitment.

I became a city bus driver at 46 and started gaining weight. I knew I wanted to reach retirement healthy enough to enjoy it, so I began walking, gradually worked up to running, lost 20 pounds and eventually brought an old set of weights back out of the basement.

There was no overnight transformation. Persistence changed everything.

The goal isn’t to train like I’m 23.
It’s to be stronger at 73.

01

Train hard. Recover harder.

Five days works when sleep, food and smart volume are treated as part of the program.

02

Progress is the goal.

Add a rep, refine the movement or increase the load. Small wins still move the bar.

03

Protect the long game.

Good form, warm-ups and pain-free ranges keep strength available for decades—not weeks.

A life in
motion.

Strength isn’t confined to the gym. It shows up in confidence, energy, travel and the freedom to keep enjoying life on your own terms.

a schedule.

My established five-day routine emphasizes chest and glutes. Newcomers can begin with a gentle two-day First Steps routine, then move to the three-day foundation when ready.

From bus-driver weight gain to strong at 63.

A sedentary job was my wake-up call. I didn’t begin with a perfect program—I began with one decision, then kept showing up. If you’re approaching retirement and wondering whether it’s too late, this is where I hope you’ll start.

THE YEARS DON’T GET THE FINAL WORD.

More strength.
More life.

I don’t train simply to look fit. I train for the energy, confidence and freedom to travel, explore and keep saying yes to life.

THE BEST PROGRAM IS THE ONE YOU CAN KEEP DOING.

Keep showing up.
